The Kingwood Branch of the Harris County Public Library suffered extreme damage to the first floor of its facility during Hurricane Harvey. Books, computers, furniture, and the well-loved Friends of the Library (FOLK) Norris Pelham Used Book Store were all lost when the building took on approximately 4 feet of water during the storm.
Fortunately, a dedicated team of professionals has been hard at work since September of 2017 to restore the library to its former glory. Donations from community organizations and Kingwood residents greatly accelerated the process.
On Wednesday, June 27th, the Kingwood Branch Library celebrated its grand re-opening with the Kingwood Community. Library officials thanked local organizations and residents who were instrumental in the restoration of the facility. The community celebrated with cake, punch, music from the Kingwood Park High School drum line, and lots and lots of books! Welcome back, Kingwood Branch Library!
